I'm sure this is what really happens behind the scenes...
A while ago I entered The Visitors into the Chinh India Kid's Film Festival, which screens in New Delhi, Mumbai and Guwahati. Today I received a video from the festival showing the children watching and talking about the films. Their reactions are so genuine and heartfelt. If I'm ever wondering why I animate I'll just watch this video again. And then to cap it all off, they vote my film the winner in the pre school section. Thanks kids!
Very happy that my little film about spiders has been selected for a couple of film festivals - one in Toronto, one here in Melbourne! http://tiff.net/festivals/tiffkidsfestival15/film-list/loot-bag-junior-animals-on-adventures/the-visitors http://www.littlebigshots.com.au
I was struggling with my animation one day. My hand couldn’t make the pen go where my brain wanted it to go. In the other room my wife was watching The Bold and the Beautiful, and in it two characters were discussing a third character’s artistic struggle. Interesting, I thought. This is paralleling my own problems.
But as this scene demonstrated, some of us struggle for the oddest (and most dramatic) of reasons. So using the original audio from The Bold and the Beautiful I decided to animate the scene. Bless You has just aired on television in Seattle, on the arts program ArtZone. Check about 12:30 in. But there's a nice story on illustrator Bill Brown before that. I love how he admits that he doesn't get things right first time and saves the well-drawn bits of bodies for later use!
Just a short exercise. I'm not really sure what it's about.
Bless You has been accepted into a few festivals around the world, but it's this one at home that I'm the most excited about. I love MIAF and go every year. Bless You will screen in the Australian Showcase. It's great to be accepted in your home town!
